Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Pittsfield Youth Workshop provides an opportunity for youth in the Pittsfield area to be involved in outdoor adventure experiences, community service activities, a youth drop in center, a variety of out of town excursions, exposure to arts and music, and other enrichment activities. PYW’s mission is to provide programs and services that empower youth by helping them to develop useful skills, self-esteem, and meaningful friendships, by involving them in activities that are interesting, challenging, and healthy avenues to self discovery.

The youth Drop-In Center is open during the school year, as well as throughout the summer. PYW also offers 2-5 trips a month, such as kayaking, hiking, indoor rock climbing, concerts, theater, etc. Additional programs we offer include: Community Pride and Involvement, Pittsfield Teen Mentor Project, Music and Arts Enhancement, Youth Board, Programs with Adults, and Drug and Alcohol Prevention. All of PYW’s activities are aimed at leading youth into situations where they can make a positive difference. Our programs are open to all youth in the 6th through 12th grades, including home schooled children, in Pittsfield and the surrounding communities.

The community has come to rely on the Pittsfield Youth Workshop to provide a safe environment in which our growing youth population can explore a diversity of opportunities. There are approximately 420 youth in the 6th-12th grades in the Pittsfield area. In the past year nearly 300 of these youth have participated in PYW activities.

PYW is funded by grants from DCYF Incentive Funds, The Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services, Sanderson Trust, New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundation, United Way, and from fundraisers and donations. If you are interested in volunteering, volunteer packets are available at the PYW drop-in center located in the Corinthian Lodge on Park Street. Donations including money, supplies, food, etc. are also greatly appreciated.

In order to involve your child in the PYW experience, please complete and return the following four items:  Membership Application, Medical Release Form, Computer Use Guidelines, and the Youth Code of Conduct. All of these forms must be completed and returned before your child may participate in any PYW event including drop-in. Additional permission slips may be required for specific events.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Zach or Paula at 435-8272

Thank you,
